The Promise

The Promise

It’s hard for me to believe that a year has passed, and we are gearing up to release our second PROMISE vintage. This past year, the response and support of everyone, from friends & family to chefs and sommeliers, has been overwhelming.

Six years ago, when I made the promise to my wife that I would pursue my passion for wine, I don’t think either of us could have anticipated how exciting and fulfilling the process would be… or the sense of community that would evolve for us as a result of it. The subtext of that promise was a commitment to balance in my life. Especially in challenging times like these, it is easy to lose sight of priorities, to let your work overtake your life; but, as my wife often reminds me, it is in exactly times like these when it is essential to make time for the things that are really important – your family, your passions. Every day I strive (with varied results, admittedly) to maintain a balance.

Coincidentally, balance is one of the characteristics that we strive for most actively in our wine. With our sophomore effort, I hope you will agree that our winemaker, Todd Graff has delivered a seamless effort. His ability to capture the complexity and unique magical character of this plot of land and weave that into a wine with tremendous equilibrium has been a thrill. With great anticipation, Rich and I look forward to sharing the 2005 PROMISE with you.

Cheers,

Stephen McPherson
